Speed counts

Success! I have new shoes, and I ran for 20 minutes non stop. Well, what passes for running in my beginner slow pace, anyways. I did find a longer gait felt better, except for the fact that I could only keep it up for a few minutes before feeling like my lungs would explode.

How slow do I go?

Slow, very slow.

I estimate I ran 2.5 km in 20 minutes, a not exactly record setting pace of...7.5 km per hour. So a marathon at that pace would take a long time. 5.6 hours. I'm not sure I can do anything for that long. I did go a bit faster for the last 4 minutes, including a final minute all out run, which felt awesome. It adds an additional goal to my 5 km one. Go faster, it's more fun.
